Links & Resources

Healthy Eating:

Parenting & Children’s Health:

  • Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, by Dr. Mark Weisbluth.  There are so many “how to raise your baby” books out there.. and so many methods, etc.  I highly recommend this book…  it is very comprehensive and gives multiple options for getting your baby/child to sleep at all ages.
  • http://drmaryanne.com - Dr. Maryanne is THE BEST child physician.  She is an Osteopathic Pediatrician… which means she treats in a holistic manner, and uses natural methods when applicable.  (when you click on the link above, notice the baby in the picture with Dr. Maryanne on the home page… that’s Abigail when she was tiny tiny!)
  • http://drmaryanne.wordpress.com - Dr. Maryanne’s (see above) blog
  • http://drsears.com - Website of world reknowed Pediatrician, Dr. Sears.  He leans towards natural and conservative treatments… but not always.

Relationships:

  • Restoring the Christian Family, By John & Paula Sanford.  This book is absolutely incredible.  I think it’s out of print, so you have to get it from Amazon.com, or try ebay.  It’s not “religious,” or ooey gooey Jesus relationship stuff.  Very down to earth, they discuss ALL aspects of marriage and family relationships.  It will change your life!

Healthy Living/ Natural Home:

Where to Shop/ Most of the products that I feature can be found at the following:

  • http://www.westonaprice.org/localchapters/index.html - This is a sub site of the site above.  Find your local chapter leader and contact them for the local shopping guide for whole, organic, healthy foods.  Depending on your area, you may be able to purchase local, organic foods directly from a farm, and save some money! (if you are in the Colorado Springs area, ask me, and I will send you the guide and tell you all you need to know!)
  • http://greenpeople.org/searchNaturalFoodStores.cfm - This is a great directory of local, independently owned, and natural food stores and co-ops
  • Vitamin Cottage - Locally owned, organic foods, products, and supplements.  http://vitamincottage.com
  • Whole Foods - healthy, organic foods and products.  A little on the higher end in terms of price.  http://wholefoodsmarket.com
  • Trader Joes - Small(er) selection of organic foods and natural products.  They only have these stores in certain locations… so check!  http://traderjoes.com
  • You know, now even many of the supermarket chains(Safeway, Vons, Wal Mart) are carrying some natural or organic items.  I prefer to patronize my local, natural grocer as much as possible.  I like supporting a small business, and the produce and other products tends to be much fresher, local, and cheaper, than the larger chain stores.
