I DO THE RESEARCH, SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO! Your one stop shop for all info on raising a healthy, natural family. Recipes, product spotlights, natural/ healthy home, childrens health, relationships, and more!
The information provided in my blog may not be conventional, or mainstream wisdom… BUT I promise you that all that I present here will be fully researched… and, I’m hoping that with the help of this blog, perhaps the truths presented here WILL become mainstream!
I am a mother, and I am whole… Whole: Entire, full, or total. Containing all the elements properly belonging, complete. Undivided, in one piece. Not broken, damaged, or impaired… intact. The whole assemblage of parts or elements belonging to a thing. A think complete in itself . (Dictionary.com)
I am a mother, and I strive to create holism for myself and my family… Holism: The parts of any whole cannot exist and cannot be understood except in their relation to the whole. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts (Dictionary.com). Recognizes importance of health and balance in all areas of a person’s life and body, including body, emotions, mind, relationships, and spirit.
Thus the name WHOLEMOM
My name is Rachel. I have an amazing husband, Micah, and one 13 month old daughter, Abigail Rae. We live in the beautiful, Palmer Lake, CO. My husband and I were both born and raised in CA… we moved out here to CO in May 2008. We love it here… although we always miss our families that we left back in Cali, this is home! As I said above, our family believes in trying to live holistically as much as possible.
Now, please don’t get me wrong… I am not a hippe, and we don’t have indian dreamcatchers hanging from our windows (although I have nothing against those who do :-). All I know is that there is a lot of “stuff” and “noise” out there… and we, especailly us parents, must wade through the noise and stuff everyday to find the truths. Unfortunately, in the time that we are living in, many times the “truths” are the hardest things to find. A nutritional example: how long have we been told that “low-fat” is better… when studies actually prove that “low-fat,” and processed non-foods are leading to diseases? A practical example: Our society values success, hard work, independence, and busyness… Is that really what YOU value?
Anyway… I will get off of my soapbox… for now! I’ve got to leave somethings for the blog posts! Basically, following my blog will allow you to follow my life and experience as a mom… wholly. I am not a perfect mom or wife(they actually have blogs too… have you seen them??). I am simply a mother, and a wife, who is always looking for the better answer… for the “truth.” I’m always looking for new ways to feed my family in the most healthy, cost effective way. I am more thankful than I could ever say for the relationships in my life… I live each day trusting HIM, loving my family, and doing the best that I can!
- Just a quick note on my recipes… I try to cook gluten free, or at least wheat free, most of the time… so most of my recipes will reflect that. I also try to use whole dairy products as much as possible. I will post more on the gluten and dairy stuff at some point… but reference http://westonaprice.org for info on dairy and whole foods. All that I cook has to satisfy a picky husband as well as a fairly picky toddler… Abby eats what we eat as much as possible… so where applicable I will include the “toddler variation” in my recipes.
- I LOVE researching healthy, natural options for my family. If you have any questions or something you’d like to know about - let me know!
Welcome to my journey!
